Parent Recommendations

Our youngest child had Mrs. Karren for a 1st grade teacher. Our children have had some great teachers but we can honestly say that Mrs. Karren is the best by far! Our little guy has loved every aspect of school this year and looks forward to learning every day! We were a little concerned with him struggling at being at school for a full day for 1st grade but Mrs. Karren is loving and patient with just the right amount of discipline; she is the perfect fit for my little guy. Our family feels truly blessed to have had Mrs. Karren be a part of Jace’s little life.

Bryan and Autumn Halliday

Our family just loves Mrs. Karren!  She is a patient, creative, kind and fun preschool teacher.  My son was very nervous to attend preschool, Mrs. Karren made him feel very comfortable at her school, and he was so happy from the first day.  Mrs. Karren has fun themes and units as part of her curriculum, she is also a very knowledgeable teacher and did a wonderful job preparing her students for kindergarten.  I would highly recommend Mrs. Karren and her Lily Pad Learning Preschool.

About Me

My name is Meranie Karren. I was raised in Richfield, Utah and have one younger brother. My mother provided daycare for 12 years in our home. I grew up loving children and was drawn into Elementary Education. I attended Southern Utah University and graduated in Elementary Education with a minor in Reading. I taught first grade for 8 years and loved EVERY minute of it. I taught at Ranches Academy and also Lakeview Academy. I have taught preschool in my home for the last four years.  It is so much fun and very rewarding! My husband and I have been married for 8 1/2 years. We lived in Texas for one year while he finished his Masters Degree and I also taught there. I love children, love teaching, and am excited to teach another year of preschool in my home.

Curriculum

Because I have a reading minor, I have very strong feelings about teaching children to love and appreciate literature. If we can get our children to love books at a very young age, I believe that they will have an easier time learning to read.
I plan on using a literature based curriculum in my preschool. We will have a book each week that we focus on and we will center our math, social skills, motor skills, language arts, etc on the book of the week. My goal is that each child will come away not only more than ready to enter Kindergarten, but with a love and a desire to learn to read!

The curriculum I will be using is The Itty-Bitty Bookworm. I will also be using my own experience to supplement and help my students as it is needed.
